Level 2 is ideal if you want to become a Beauty Therapist or Nail Technician
At this level, you can choose from three diplomas:
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (General route)
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Make-up route)
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services.
For the Make-up and General Beauty Therapy routes, you complete a set amount of core units and a number of optional units from a range that includes:
- Promote additional services or products to clients
- Fulfil salon reception duties
- Provide make-up services.
The Nail Services diploma comprises a set amount of core units, including:
- Provide manicure services
- Provide pedicure services
- Carry out nail art services.
Level 3 is ideal if you’ve worked in a salon, spa or similar job for some time, or have gained your Level 2 Beauty Therapy/Nail Services qualification. You may be a senior member of staff. You want to demonstrate specialist skills, focusing on salon or spa services.
At this level you choose from five diplomas:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (General route)
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Massage route)
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Make-up route)
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Spa Therapy
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services.
Each diploma comprises a number of core and optional units, depending on your area of specialism. These cover a wide range, including:
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
- Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
- Provide facial electrical treatments
- Provide body massage treatments
- Design and create fashion and photographic make-up
- Provide body wrapping and flotation treatments.
- Enhance and maintain nails using liquid and powder.
